conferences@stthomas.edu
Who is eligible for intern housing at the University of St. Thomas?
Any undergraduate, graduate, or professional student from another college/university, who is 18 years old or older, who has a summer internship or summer research project is eligible for our Intern Housing. Proof of internship and university enrollment is required to book intern housing.
Will I have a roommate?
We are only offering single occupancy in our sleeping rooms in Flynn Residence Hall and Frey Residence Hall. However, you may share your bathroom and living space with 1-3 other interns in our suite-style and apartment-style housing.
If the other interns in your apartment/suite/house permit their information to be shared, we will share their contact information with you along with your room assignment prior to your arrival.
How do I register for intern housing at the University of St. Thomas?
Once you submit the information form (below), a notification will be sent to us. If we have availability for the dates you wish and the option you prefer, we will send you a license agreement for summer housing. If not, we will respond with information on what, if anything, is still available.
If I register, when I will I have to pay?
At the time of registration, you will need to pay $425 toward your license agreement. $400 of this amount will be refunded to you after check-out if there are no problems with your rental. The other $25 is a non-refundable registration fee. Should you cancel prior to arriving, the $400 fee is forfeited. The first 30 days of your license agreement are due prior to your arrival with succeeding payment due on the 31st day of your stay. Payments can be made by check or credit card.
What if I cancel my application for housing or decide at the last minute not to sty at St. Thomas? Will I get the $400 deposit back?
The $400 deposit is non-refundable if you decide to cancel your license agreement. At the conclusion of your stay, it may be refunded to you if the terms of the license agreement have been satisfied.
What if I need special accommodations?
The University’s facilities comply with all applicable laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act, which require reasonable accommodation of persons with disabilities. You are responsible for notifying the University of any requests for reasonable accommodation that would require modification of University facilities. Such notification must be made at least six (6) weeks in advance of check-in so that the University can consider the request, determine whether the requested modification constitutes a reasonable accommodation or creates an undue hardship, and can enter a dialogue regarding the requested accommodation, if necessary. Not all campus facilities are equipped to accommodate individuals with special needs. The University reserves the right to assign persons needing special accommodations to appropriate facilities that may be separate from other interns. If notice is not provided by the deadline, the University may not be able to accommodate requests for special accommodations. If you have any questions, please contact marti.king@stthomas.edu.
Are pets allowed?
No pets are allowed in residence hall rooms or apartments nor anywhere in the residence halls. The University of St. Thomas permits service animals and approved assistance/therapy animals in campus housing in compliance with both the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Fair Housing Act (FHA). Individuals with assistance/therapy animals must contact the Disability Resources Office to seek approval for their animal and provide required documentation. Individuals with service animals are encouraged to notify Disability Resources, which can assist in notifying other campus offices that need to know about the service animal’s presence. For example, in an emergency event requiring evacuation, it is helpful for Public Safety to know about service and assistance/therapy animals in the residence halls.
What kitchen supplies will be provided for the intern summer housing?
Please bring your own pots, pans, and utensils. Basic appliances such as stove, refrigerator, oven, and microwave will be provided in the apartment units. In the suites, common-area kitchens can be utilized.
Are there dining options on campus?
