The residential area of Caldwell Hall was renovated in 2014 and 2015, and is the oldest building on campus.

Though an older, stately building, Gibbons Hall was last renovated in 2009 and the main entry lounge is currently being restored making this a charming location to live on campus.

About Us

Spring Semester 2026/Winter Intern Housing Available!

Located in northeast Washington D.C. (only three miles north of the U.S. Capitol) and served by our on campus Metrorail Red Line stop at the Brookland/CUA station, Catholic University is a safe and convenient housing choice. With plenty to do and plenty to offer, your visit and stay in Washington DC for your internship, research placement, co-op, or educational study tour will be well complimented by our beautiful campus, as well as our phenomenal and helpful summer hospitality staff.

Intern housing begins on Sunday January 24. 2026 and will end on Sunday, August 15, 2026. We offer only single occupancy housing.

Your $54/night room rate ($60 for apartments) includes access to laundry facilities, fitness center, campus WiFi, daily hot breakfast and/or weekend brunch (except for a few days in May when meals will not be available) , and cable TV access (bring your TV!). All residence spaces are secured with card access-only exteriors. You may also rent linen sets for $75 flat rate, Each rooms comes equipped with a minifridge/microwave unit with separate freezer compartment. Apartments come with full kitchens.

Please note that intern housing is provided on a first-come, first-served basis. We will sell out for summer 2026!

Where is Catholic University of America (CUA)?

- The University is located in the northeast quadrant of Washington D.C. just three miles from the U.S. Capitol building.

Who is eligible to stay at CUA?

- Any individual in D.C. for educational purposes - internships, co-ops, research and/or educational study.

Will I be assigned a roommate if a Double room is assigned?

- No. Rooms will be assigned for single occupancy only.

Am I permitted to check-in earlier or extend my stay to a later date if needed?

- Generally yes. Log in to your account and you may change your dates of stay. Questions? Please email cua-summer@cua.edu.

Do you offer kitchen facilities in the residence halls?

- Yes. Shared kitchen facilities are available in each residence hall. The apartments each have their own kitchen.

What do I bring to campus?

- While rooms are fully furnished with a bed, dresser, desk, desk chair, and closet or wardrobe per occupant, anyone staying in University housing will need to bring bedding, towels/washcloths, alarm clocks, desk lamps, etc. Linen bundles are available to rent.

What do I need to do to cancel my reservation?

- If you need to cancel you must request so in writing to cua-summer@cua.edu. Cancellation more than 30 days prior to check-in date will result in a $250 fee. Cancellations less than 30 days prior to check-in date will result in a penalty charge of 25% of the total amount. No-shows are not eligible for refunds. If you must cancel your reservation due to COVID circumstances, the normal cancellation policy will not apply and instead you will be given a full, 100% refund. Cancellations for other reasons will still be held to our normal cancellation policy. Please submit your cancellation request via email: cua-summer@cua.edu.

What are the rules concerning guests?

- Residence halls are open to visitors from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 a.m. Guests must respect quiet hours. Overnight guests are not permitted. For details, please refer to the Intern Housing Rules document.
