Frequently Asked Questions
FAQs
Why does my room of choice have two beds, even though it says "single occupancy"?
During the school year, this room is used to house two Loyola students on two Twin XL beds. However, over the summer, we will rent the room to only one intern. The second bed will remain in the room but will be unoccupied.
What is the roommate policy?
All apartment roommates in Fordham will be of the same gender. We try to accommodate specific roommate requests, but it is on a first-come-first-serve basis, and we will continue to adhere to our same-gender policy.
Can I bring my pet or Emotional Support Animal (ESA)?
Any request of this nature must be approved by Loyola University Chicago's Accessibility Center prior to arrival.
Can I smoke or drink in my room/in the residence hall?
Loyola University Campuses are smoke-free, and therefore smoking of any kind is prohibited in residence halls (including traditional tobacco products, vape pens, and marijuana).
Alcohol is permitted in rooms where the occupants are over 21 years of age, but is strictly prohibited in common areas, such as lounges and study areas.
Can I have guests in my room (during the day or overnight)?
All guests must register at the Residence Hall front desk and present a valid government-issued photo ID, which will be held at the desk for the duration of the visit.
Guests must be accompanied by their host intern at all times while inside the building. No guest may remain in housing for more than 72 hours within any 14-day period without prior written approval from Conference Services Management.
Are dishes, cookware, cleaning supplies, or hangers provided?
No. We recommend visiting one of the many retailers available in Rogers Park to grab some basics once you're moved in.
Are there housekeeping services?
Intern housing is apartment-style living and does not include hotel services. Interns will not be provided with personal toiletries and consumables, housekeeping, room, or concierge services, mail delivery to apartments, or any complimentary food and beverage.
Communal lounges/kitchens, bathrooms, and residence hall public spaces are cleaned by our campus housekeeping vendor.
Can I pay in installments or week by week?
In order to complete your reservation, a $1,500 reservation deposit and a separate $500 damage deposit are required. The $1,500 will be applied to your total cost. The remainder of your balance will be due 7 days prior to arrival. The $500 will be refunded to you at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage, and the apartment is in the same condition it was at the start of your stay.
Conference Services Management may allow monthly payments on a case-by-case basis.
What is your overall refund and cancellation policy?
Interns may cancel their housing reservation by submitting a written request to Conference Services at internhousinghub@luc.edu. Verbal agreements are not considered cancellation requests. Cancellations received more than fourteen (14) days prior to the scheduled check-in date will result in a full refund of all fees paid, excluding the non-refundable housing deposit ($1,500).
Cancellations received fewer than fourteen (14) days before the scheduled check-in date will result in forfeiture of the housing deposit and may be subject to additional fees depending on the room type and term of stay.
No refunds will be issued for disciplinary removal.
Any refund request due to extenuating circumstances must be submitted in writing and will be reviewed at the sole discretion of Conference Services Management.
What if I want to stay for fewer than 30 nights?
Your nightly room rate will be adjusted to reflect the Chicago Lodging Tax (17.4%).
My question wasn't on here. Who can I talk to?
We'd love to hear from you! Please write to us at internhousinghub@luc.edu to speak to our team.
