Around Us Description HTML version

Menlo College is the perfect gateway to the best of Northern California, located at the crossroads of Silicon Valley's innovation and the Peninsula's natural beauty. The area offers something to explore once the workday ends, from beaches to mountains and everything in between.

Relocating without a car? Menlo College is one of the most accessible locations in the Bay Area for interns. Our campus sits directly on El Camino Real, providing a connection to the entire Silicon Valley tech corridor.

  • The Caltrain Connection: The Menlo Park Caltrain station is located just a short distance from campus (a quick 5-minute bike ride or a 15-minute walk). This commuter rail is the primary artery of the Peninsula, offering frequent service north to the heart of San Francisco and south to San Jose. Whether you are commuting to an office in Mountain View or heading to a Giants game at Oracle Park, the train makes it effortless.

    • More information about routes and fares can be found here

  • Local Bus and Shuttles: SamTrans bus lines stop directly in front of the Menlo College entrance, offering easy local travel throughout San Mateo County. Additionally, the City of Menlo Park provides free community shuttles that connect the Caltrain station to local shopping centers, grocery stores, and major business parks, ensuring you can get exactly where you need to be without a personal vehicle.

Local Hangout and Dining

Just a short walk or bike ride away, the vibrant downtowns of Menlo Park and Palo Alto offer a world-class culinary scene and unique boutiques. Grab a specialty coffee to people watch, enjoy authentic international tapas, or meet up with fellow interns for a night out on University Avenue. This iconic stretch is the social heart of the Peninsula, where sidewalk cafes and open-air dining create a high-energy atmosphere to create lifelong memories.

Community Events

Summer in the Peninsula is packed with activity. From summer concerts, local festivals, farmers' markets, theatre performances at the Guild Theatre, and tech summits, you’ll find endless opportunities to build a community that lasts long after your internship ends.

Outdoor Adventure

If you need a break from the screen, the Bay Area is an outdoor wonderland. Hike the iconic Stanford Dish trail for panoramic views of the valley, explore the towering redwoods at Wunderlich Park, or take a 30-minute drive to the coast to watch the sunset at Half Moon Bay. For the ultimate weekend trip, the world-famous surf of Santa Cruz and the rugged beauty of Big Sur are all within easy reach.

Iconic Day Trips

Our location puts you exactly where you want to be for weekend adventures. You are just 30 miles south of San Francisco, home to the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and the vibrant Mission District. Heading south? Explore the tech giants' campuses in Mountain View and Cupertino, or spend a day at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. You can expand your palate with hundreds of wineries and vineyards to choose from in Wine Country.
