Frequently Asked Questions
FAQs
Can I have guests in my room (during the day or overnight)?
No. For the safety and security of everyone in the residence halls, non-residents (including family) are not permitted in the residence halls at any time. Failure to adhere to this policy can lead to termination of your stay without refund.
Family may assist with move-in and move-out. They must sign in at the Office of Public Safety on those days and present a photo ID. They may not continue to visit the residence hall or stay overnight.
Can I bring my pet or Emotional Support Animal (ESA)?
No. Salve Regina University Intern Housing accommodates trained service animals as defined by the American with Disabilities Act, but pets, ESA's and/or comfort animals are not allowed in the residence halls. Failure to adhere to this policy can lead to termination of your stay without refund.
Can I smoke or drink in my room/in the residence hall?
Smoking = No. All residence halls are smoke-free (including traditional tobacco products, vape pens, and marijuana).
Drinking = if you are over 21 years of age during your summer in Newport. Alcohol is permitted in the residence halls, if you are over 21 years of age.
Failure to adhere to this policy can lead to termination of your stay without refund.
Are dishes, cookware, cleaning supplies or hangers provided?
We supply basic pots, pans, dishes, silverware and cooking utensils.
For anything else, we recommend visiting one of the many retailers available in Newport, Middletown or Portsmouth to grab some basics once you're moved in. It's a great opportunity to meet your neighbors/roommates and get to know Aquidneck Island!
Are linens provided?
We do provide full linen sets to each of our guests, including a pillow, blanket, sheets and bath towel. Complimentary laundry services are provided.
Are there housekeeping services?
No, not for the individual bedrooms, suites or apartments. Trash and laundry rooms are available in each location. Please be courteous to your neighbors, roommates and our housekeepers by picking up after yourself when using communal facilities.
Can I pay by check, installments or month to month?
The total cost of a stay is due prior to your check in date. Housing is calculated based on a monthly rate: first month of the cost of the selected housing option is due at the time of booking.
I can't move in until mid-week/I have to leave early, do you prorate or refund unstayed nights?
No, but in some extreme cases, there may be an exception. We charge by the full week, running Friday to Friday. Unfortunately, if it is such that you cannot arrive until later in the week, we will not prorate the preceding nights. Same if you depart prior to the Friday of your last week.
If you have to leave early or arrive late due to an emergency or the unexpected cancellation/change in remote work status of your internship, please reach out to conferences.events@salve.edu .
What is your overall refund policy?
Applicants have until 14 days before their check-in date to cancel in writing to conferences.events@salve.edu and receive a refund, minus a $200 cancellation fee. Verbal requests are not considered valid cancellation requests.
Please note, cancellation requests need to be made by the guest whose name is on the booking.
My question wasn't on here, who can I talk to?
We'd love to hear from you! Write to us at conferences.events@salve.edu and we'll respond within two business days or give us a call at 401-341-2445 between 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday to speak to our team.
