San José State University, the first public institution of higher education in California, is located in lively downtown San José.  Restaurants, museums, nightclubs, cinemas, coffeehouses, concerts, theaters, and professional sports are all located within walking distance of the campus.  Summer interns stay in the heart of Silicon Valley, with the entire Bay Area accessible through local mass transit.

 

During the summer, San Jose State approximately houses around 150 Interns from around the country who are working at the many different companies throughout the Silicon Valley.

Housing Options

Intern Housing is offered in Campus Village 2 and Campus Village Building B. Campus Village 2 (CV2) is a 10 story dormitory style facility with multiple, shared bathrooms down the hall and one common, shared kitchen. The rooms are furnished with a twin extra long bed, a dresser, closet, and a desk for each person. Double and single occupancy rooms are available. In room cable and wireless internet are included. Linen and parking are additional costs. Formal lounge, recreational lounge with pool and ping pong tables and a big screen TV are on the first floor, and laundry facilities (operated by credit card or app) are located on each floor.

Campus Village Building B (CVB) is the location of the SJSU’s apartments, the Recreation Activities Center (RAC), and the Village Market. It is the centerpiece of the Campus Village and features a 15 story tower. It features 4 and 5 bedroom apartments equipped with a kitchen (with standard size oven and stove, full size refrigerator and microwave), bathroom, and living room area. CVB has a selection of single and limited double* occupancy bedrooms. Each bedroom is furnished with a twin extra long bed, a dresser, closet, and a desk. In room cable and wireless internet are included. Linen and parking are additional costs. Formal lounge, recreational lounge with pool and ping pong tables and a big screen TV, and laundry facilities (operated by credit card or app) are located on the first floor of the building.

How do I apply for a room?

Applications are available until spaces are full (usually we have enough space to accommodate everyone who applies).

 

What is the payment schedule/ do you have a payment plan?

You may pay in full on the website at the time of the application.  Or, you may skip payment and pay in full (by check or credit card), when you arrive to check in.  Or you may pay half at check in, and half by July 1st.  All payments must be final by July 1st.

 

What is the cancellation policy?

You may cancel your reservation up to 7 days prior to check in with no penalities.  After that, you will not be refunded for your stay.

 

How much does it cost to live in CVB Intern Housing?

For a double bedroom, per person per night = $59.00  (these spaces are very limited)

For a double bedroom, per person per week = $328.00  (these spaces are very limited)

For a single bedroom, per person per night = $78.00

For a single bedroom, per person per week = $381.00

 

How much does it cost to live in CV2 Intern Housing?

For a double room (shared with one other person), per person per night = $45.00

For a double room (shared with one other person), per person per week = $204.00

For a single room, per person per night = $70.00 (these spaces are very limited)

For a single room, per person per week = $312.00 (these spaces are very limited)

 

Can I move in before June 1st?

No, unfortunately our academic year students are still moving out and we are cleaning the rooms for summer, so no rooms are available before June 1st.

 

Can I stay past August 7th?

No, unfortunately our academic year students need to move back in the next week, so we need to clean the rooms for their arrival.

 

Can I choose my roommates?

Yes, on the application (link above) there is a space to list roommates if you know who you want to live with.  Your roommates should also list you on their application as well.  If you do not have roommates to live with, you will be placed in an apartment with other Interns.

 

Will I be living with other people?

Yes, if you choose to live in CVB, you will have your own single bedroom in a shared apartment with 3 other people (interns).  If you live in CV2, you will share a residence hall bedroom with one other person (intern).

 

How and when do I check in?

You will be contacted in May with check in and room information.  Check in will be by sign ups for June 1st, and after that day you may check in at any time.  (We are open 24/7 after June 1st)
