Where will interns live?
Interns will stay in the Living and Learning Center, Simmons University’s new air-conditioned residence hall.
The building includes:
- Community lounges
- Communal kitchens with refrigerators, ovens, and microwaves
- Free laundry facilities
- Vending machines
- Wi-Fi
- Shared and semi-private bathroom options
Kitchenware and cooking supplies are not provided.
What items should I bring?
Interns should bring their own:
- Sheets, blankets, pillows, and towels
- Hangers
- Pots, pans, dishes, and utensils
- Paper goods
- Cleaning supplies for personal rooms and semi-private bathrooms
- Irons, vacuums, mops, or brooms, if needed
Personal trash bins are not provided in individual rooms.
Are linens provided?
No. Sheets, blankets, pillows, and towels are not included.
Is Wi-Fi available?
Yes. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the residence hall. Connection instructions will be provided before arrival.
Is laundry available?
Yes. Complimentary laundry facilities are available in the residence hall.
How are the residence halls cleaned?
Housekeeping staff clean shared hallways, lounges, kitchens, and communal bathrooms daily. Trash is collected from designated communal hallway bins.
Housekeeping staff do not clean individual guest rooms or semi-private bathrooms. Residents are responsible for cleaning their own living spaces and bathrooms.
Only toilet paper may be flushed. Wipes, including products labeled “flushable,” may cause plumbing blockages and should be placed in the trash.
Can I rent a mini refrigerator?
Mini refrigerators may be rented for an additional fee.
The current anticipated fee is $200 for the duration of the stay, subject to change. Refrigerator requests must be submitted when the housing contract is signed and no later than mid-May.
When available, the refrigerator will be placed in the resident’s room before check-in. Residents are responsible for emptying and cleaning it before departure.
Can I receive mail and packages?
Mail and package services are available through the Simmons Copy and Mail Center.

Operating hours and payment options will be shared before arrival.
Residents who need assistance retrieving a package should contact the summer conferences team before 5:00 p.m. When available, staff may deliver packages outside the resident’s room or suite door. Staff do not enter guest rooms.
Is campus security available?
Yes. Simmons Public Safety operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Can I have visitors?
Residents may invite guests to visit during permitted hours and are responsible for their guests’ conduct.
Roommates must approve visitors when sharing a room. In rooms with semi-private bathrooms, guests may use the bathroom only with the consent of all residents who share it.
Conferences staff may ask a guest to leave campus at any time.
Overnight guests are not permitted.
Is parking available?
Parking may be available in the Simmons University Parking Garage, located beneath the Management and Academic Building.

2027 parking rates are not yet available.
To request parking, email summerconferences@simmons.edu at least two weeks before arrival. Once the request is approved, residents will receive instructions for establishing an account and submitting payment directly to the parking office.
Parking is billed weekly and is subject to availability.
Are meal plans available?
Yes. Summer meal plans are expected to be available in the Living and Learning Center dining hall beginning in June 2027.
Anticipated options may include:
- Breakfast packages
- Dinner packages
- Breakfast and dinner packages
- Lunch packages
Dining hours, meal-plan pricing, and final package options will be provided before arrival. Hours and offerings are subject to change.
Can interns use the fitness center?
Yes. Daily and seasonal Sports Center memberships may be available for residents age 18 and older.
Memberships are typically available for purchase beginning in late May. Rates and purchasing instructions will be shared once finalized.
When will I receive my room assignment?
Room assignments are provided at check-in and are based on the room type selected in the housing contract.
Specific room numbers, floors, views, and roommate placements cannot be guaranteed.
When are payments due?
A 25% deposit is due when the housing contract is signed.
The remaining balance is due no later than 10 days before arrival. Residents will not receive a room key or access card until payment has been received in full.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-In
9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Early arrivals require advance written approval and are not guaranteed.
Check-Out
8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
Late departures are not permitted. Residents must provide their anticipated departure time at least seven days before check-out.
At check-in, residents will receive a room key and building access card. Bringing a lanyard is recommended.
What happens if I am locked out or lose my key?
A summer conferences staff member is available 24 hours a day to assist with lockouts and urgent concerns.

Non-urgent maintenance issues are addressed during regular business hours.
The replacement fee for a lost access card is currently $30. Additional fees may apply for lost keys or other access devices. Charges are billed at the end of the resident’s stay.
Replacement cards are issued only when spares are available.
Can I arrive early or extend my stay?
Early arrivals and extended stays are not guaranteed.
Exceptions may be considered for documented travel delays or other unusual circumstances when a clean, vacant room is available. All changes must be approved in writing by Conferences and Special Events before arrival or departure.
