About Us

Stay near the heart of Bangor without long-term contracts. Whether you’re completing an internship or are a transfer student new to the University of Maine, our Intern Housing offers flexible, affordable, secure accommodations on a week-to-week lease of our suite-style apartments. Located in the Doris Twitchell Allen Village (DTAV) on Rangeley Road, UMaine's suite-style living is perfect for summer residencies.

Rooted in Maine’s heritage, we serve as a cornerstone of cultural enrichment, scientific advancement and community impact, proudly stewarding the Pine Tree State from mountains to coastline to ensure a vibrant tomorrow for Maine and beyond.

Internationally recognized research, scholarship, and creative activity distinguish the University of Maine as the state’s flagship university, where faculty and students contribute knowledge to issues of local, national, and international significance. As the state’s doctoral-granting institution, research and education are inextricably linked.

Around Us Description HTML version

Internationally recognized research, scholarship, and creative activity distinguish the University of Maine as the state’s flagship university, where faculty and students contribute knowledge to issues of local, national, and international significance. As the state’s doctoral-granting institution, research and education are inextricably linked. It is a safe, welcoming space where all are free to learn, grow and create.

The University of Maine is located on Marsh Island which makes it a haven for wildlife as well as a quiet refuge from busy streets and bustling cities. Orono is near everything, yet far enough away to provide a respite for interns and researchers. Nearby Indian Island houses the Penobscot Indian Island Reservation.

Because our local economies are made up of amazing businesses, we welcome interns and summer researchers. Our support for them and for our summer guests (you) means that everyone does better. This offering is for any intern or summer researcher in the Bangor area — not just UMaine students.

Prepare to enjoy your time on campus while being close enough to Bangor to catch a show at Penobscot Theatre or Waterfront Concerts, visit the Zillman Art Museum or take a day trip to Acadia National Park (45 minutes away) or to Baxter State Park (82 miles away). Nearby Camden, Belfast and Rockland bring the coast close to campus and accent your stay.

When you come to Maine, you're home.
