What is included in my room if I stay in an apartment at UMBC?

• You can expect to have the following- common area, dishwasher, refrigerator, stovetop, oven, access to washing machine/ dryer, dresser, sofa, desk, an option for a linen package (for an additional cost), Wi-Fi, television, 24- hour front desk coverage.

Are there any additional utility expenses when I stay in the apartments for the summer?

• Nope! When you use housing at UMBC the utilities such as water, electric, internet, trash, etc are all included so there are no extra fees to worry about like if you were to rent from an apartment community not affiliated with campus.

Is UMBC ADA Accessible?

• Yes! If there are any special requests or additional assistance needed please work with your coordinator in Event & Conference Services and we can work to make the most comfortable accommodations.

Can I receive mail while I stay on campus at UMBC for my summer internship? 

• Sure can! Mail can be received at our Campus Card Services in the first floor of the University Center. The Campus Card Center works in conjunction with the United States Postal Service to make sending and receiving mail on campus a quick and easy task. All shipping prices are the same as USPS, there is no extra fee to use the mailing service at the Campus Card Center. The Campus Card Center is a cashless operation and only accepts money on the Campus Card

What coffee options do I have?

• Starbucks on campus located on the first floor in the University Center. OCA Mocha is located within the UMBC community in Arbutus for community members as well as UMBC students, faculty and staff.
• OCA Mocha is a coffee shop and community space focused on community development, art, and culture. The project began in a UMBC classroom and is now run by UMBC Alum. OCA stands for Opportunity for Community Alliances. Our primary mission is to bring people together in Baltimore County and promote productive relationships in the community. Come check out our art gallery, stage, community meeting room, and delicious menu! 

Can I reserve a meal plan for my stay?

• Absolutely! Please work with the Manager of Facility Rental Event Advising in order to purchase a meal plan! You can dine in the dining hall on campus for breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner.

I like to keep up with physical and recreational activities, can I use the athletic facilities while I stay on campus?

• There are volleyball and basketball courts located near the housing facilities and for an additional fee you can purchase a temporary RAC membership card that gives you access to the Fitness Center.

Is there 24 hour campus security?

• Yes, yes, yes! 24 hour campus security is provided by UMBC Campus Police and can be reached at anytime of day via the emergency line.

Is there anything to do around UMBC?

• Lots! UMBC is conveniently located 15 minutes to Baltimore City's Inner Harbor where you can find the Baltimore's National Aquarium, nightlife, and the Baltimore Convention Center. Only a few minutes away you can reach Baltimore City towns, Federal Hill, Fells Point, and Canton. There is plenty of dining options close by in the Arbutus/ Catonsville area as well as grocery shopping, hospitals, banks, and gas stations.
