The Residence Halls on the University of Massachusetts Boston campus are traditional style and offer easy access to Boston and surrounding locations for your internship.

Located on Columbia Point in Boston, the community offers wireless internet service throughout the building, a laundry room for all residents, lounges on each residential floor with TV and smaller study rooms on the ground floor. Summer residents are also able to purchase a summer membership for the campus fitness center!

The Residence Halls are a secure building with 24-hour security at the turnstile to reach the residential floors. Our summer staff are available for any questions you may have and to help make your stay as comfortable as possible while you focus on your internship. Our office is open Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm.

Living on campus at UMass Boston is a great way to round out your internship in the Boston area. Close to public transportation and a short trip to various summer attractions in Boston, you will love our building (opened in 2018) and the convenience of staying here this summer!

The Residence Halls at UMass Boston offer traditional style residence hall rooms with either in-room bathrooms or with access to community bathrooms. Our full summer 2024 rates will be available in late November 2023. Please contact us for availability questions.

Shared rooms will have between two and four occupants. All rooms with four occupants have in-room bathrooms.

Summer Rates

  • Shared room with in-room bathroom - $3,000 (per person for full summer)
  • Shared room with community bathroom - $2,580 (per person for full summer)

All rooms come fully furnished with a bed, desk, chair, dresser, and closet space. Linen and towels are not provided. All beds are twin XL.

Microwaves are available for use on the ground floor of the buildings.

A convection oven and full sized fridge is available for all summer guests in the West building lobby. Summer residents are welcome to bring their own mini-fridge and microwave to keep in their room.

The Residence Halls at UMass Boston is a modern, traditional residence hall building. Lounges with televisions are located on each residential floor, with smaller study rooms, complete with televisions, available on the first floor. With easy access to a walking path along the harbor, you'll be able to relax on the various greenspaces on campus or in our air conditioned buildings.

There is a small community kitchenette on the first floor of the West building. This kitchenette includes a microwave, full size fridge and convection oven. All summer residents are able to use these items and store food in the fridge. All food left in the common fridge must be labeled with resident name and date. It is advisable for residents to have their own mini-fridge to assist with food storage over the summer.

Summer membership to the Beacon Fitness Center is available for purchase. The fitness center is filled with state-of-the-art fitness equipment that will satisfy both the inexperienced and experienced user. Precor, Matrix, and cardiovascular equipment are complemented by Paramount and Hammer strength equipment. Facility amenities include locker rooms with bathrooms, showers, and racquetball/squash courts. Patrons can secure their belongings by requesting a day locker. On-site parking is also available for a fee through the campus Parking and Transportation Office. Please direct all parking related questions to their office at parking.trans@umb.edu

There is nothing like summer in Boston and when you want to enjoy what Downtown Boston and the surrounding areas has to offer, you are a short train ride away!

When you want to stay a little closer to your summer home, there is a grocery store, banks and take out delivery options a short distance or delivery time away.

Take time after your internship to explore Boston and the surrounding cities while soaking in the history and culture around you!
