Dedicated Intern Space in Chicago

Loyola University offers two residence halls dedicated to summer intern housing: Bellarmine and Fordham Hall. Both have in-hall laundry, elevators, kitchens, in-unit bathrooms, bedroom furnishings, and forced air with thermostat control. All residence halls have 24/7 front desk service to assist you during your stay on campus with your new-to-town needs. Our campus is steps from Lake Michigan beaches, nightlife, and public transit.

Bellarmine is steps from beaches, Rogers Park community, and campus. This residence hall provides on-campus convenience with an off-campus feel. Bellarmine Hall also features social lounges on all floors and a Campus Safety Office on the ground floor.

Fordham Hall is located on the former site of the historic Granada Theater, a once majestic movie palace. This stunning 14-story building has many amenities that will provide a safe and comfortable experience for its residents whether they stay for one week or three months. Each intern will be provided with 1 bed (twin-XL), 1 dresser, 1 desk, and 1 chair. Each apartment has 1 dining table and 2-4 dining chairs. Both of our intern housing buildings have 24-hour front-desk staff with ID required for entry, elevators, forced air with thermostat control, and free in-hall laundry (no laundry detergent or dryer sheets provided).
Kitchens are in-unit and contain a stove/oven, full-sized refrigerator/freezer, and kitchen sink. No microwave, pots/pans, cookware, or utensils are provided.
Bathrooms are in-unit (1 per unit, 2 in 2-bedroom quads).

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my room of choice say "Double (Single Occupancy)?"
- During the school year, this room is used to house two Loyola students on two Twin XL beds. However, over the summer, we will rent the room to only one intern. The second bed will remain in the room but will be unoccupied.
What is the roommate policy?
- All apartment roommates in Fordham and Bellarmine Hall will be of the same gender. We try to accommodate specific roommate requests, but it is on a first-come-first-serve basis, and we will continue to adhere to our same-gender policy.
Can I bring my pet or Emotional Support Animal (ESA)?
- No. Loyola University Intern Housing accommodates trained service animals as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act, but pets, ESA, and/or comfort animals are not allowed in the residence halls. Failure to adhere to this policy can lead to termination of your stay without a refund.
Can I smoke or drink in my room/in the residence hall?
- Loyola University Campuses are smoke-free and therefore smoking of any kind is prohibited in residence halls (including traditional tobacco products, vape pens, and marijuana).
- Alcohol is permitted in rooms where the occupants are over 21 years of age, but are strictly prohibited in common areas, such as lounges.
- Failure to adhere to these policies can lead to termination of your stay without a refund.
Can I have guests in my room (during the day or overnight)?
- Both daytime and overnight visitors are permitted. Overnight guests are required to check in with front desk safety staff before they can be allowed into the residence hall.
Are dishes, cookware, cleaning supplies, or hangers provided?
- No. We recommend visiting one of the many retailers available in Rogers Park to grab some basics once you're moved in. It's a great opportunity to meet your neighbors/roommates and get to know your new neighborhood!
- We do provide full linen sets to each of our guests, including a blanket and sheets. Your bed should all be made up for your arrival!
Are there housekeeping services?
- Not for the individual bedrooms, suites, or apartments. Communal lounges/kitchens, bathrooms, and residence hall public spaces are cleaned by our campus housekeeping vendor, but private spaces will stay private during your stay. Trash and laundry rooms are available on each residence hall floor. Please be courteous to your neighbors, roommates, and our housekeepers by picking up after yourself when using communal facilities.
Can I pay in installments or week by week?
- No. In order to complete your reservation, a $1,500 reservation deposit and a $500 damage deposit are required. The $1,500 will be applied to your total cost. The remainder of your balance will be due 72 hours prior to arrival. The $500 will be refunded to you at the end of your stay as long as there is no damage, and the apartment is in the same condition it was at the start of your stay.
I can't move in until later/I have to leave early, do you prorate or refund unstayed nights?
- No, but in some extreme cases, there may be an exception. We charge by the negotiated term of stay. Unfortunately, if you must arrive late or leave earlier than the negotiated term, we will not prorate. Exceptions are made on a case-by-case basis.
What is your overall refund and cancellation policy?
- Applicants have until 21 days before their check-in date to cancel in writing to internhousinghub@luc.edu and receive a refund. Verbal requests are not considered valid cancellation requests. The $1,500 deposit will not be refunded, and you may be assessed an additional fee.
- If for any reason your stay changes and falls short of 30 nights, your rate will be adjusted to the nightly room rate associated with the number of nights you stayed, if applicable will also include the hotel lodging tax (currently 17.4%). Any balance would be due prior to departure. No refunds will be given. If there is a situation in which you break University policies or state laws and you are asked to move out of your residence, you will not receive a refund of any kind.
- Please note, cancellation requests need to be made by the guest whose name is on the booking.
