North San Diego County is full of incredibly diverse geography – from sandy beaches, canyons, desert and dunes, to lush grasslands and mountains. This gorgeous pocket of the country has something for everyone, and a wide array of landmarks like the Del Mar Racetrack, The Palomar Observatory, and the historical Mission San Luis Rey de Francia. San Diego’s North County is home to several universities including Cal State San Marcos, which offers summer intern housing on its beautiful campus. North County is home to forty golf courses, tons of beautiful wildlife, and is a huge surfer community, so sign up for some lessons during your internship or visit one of the 12,000 animals that call the San Diego Zoo home! Camp Pendleton, the Corps’ larges amphibious assault training facility, is also located in San Diego.
