Intern Housing Portal (opening at the end of January 2026)
https://vcu.starrezhousing.com/StarRezPortalXConference
In the portal, Interns/Individuals can pay their balance by going to the “Accounts” tab, pay for parking using the “Amenities” tab, and create a new reservation by clicking “Register”
Are interns able to request roommates?
Yes, they should send an email to conferences@vcu.edu with their roommate request. All roommates should be cc’ed (copied) on the email, so we can verify that all parties are in agreement to live together.
What is the cancellation policy? Are deposits refundable?
Deposits are non-refundable. Here is the cancellation verbiage from our contract:
Any cancellation request must be submitted to VCU RLHCS by completing the Summer Licensee Housing Cancellation Form found via the VCU Summer Conferences Housing payment portal at https://vcu.starrezhousing.com/StarRezPortalXConference/ under the Licensee Housing tab. The Licensee agrees to adhere to the following cancellation schedules:
a. A reservation cancellation request received thirty (30) or more days before the start date will be granted a full refund of any monies paid and released from all other financial obligations.
b. A reservation cancellation request received less than thirty (30) days before the start date will result in forfeiture of all deposit monies paid and release from further financial obligations.
c. If the Licensee does not arrive within seven (7) days after the scheduled date of arrival and does not contact RLHCS about a delayed arrival, the reservation will be immediately canceled, the reserved Housing Space will be released, and all previous payments will be forfeited.
d. If the Licensee changes the date of arrival and subsequently cancels the reservation, the Licensee is still bound by the cancellation policy with their original scheduled date of arrival. Failure to notify VCU RLHCS of their cancellation request shall result in forfeiture of deposit monies paid.
Parking information
Intern parking is available for purchase on our portal. The parking rates are in effect from Sunday through Saturday, with a monthly rate of $77 plus applicable VA State Sales Tax. Parking for interns is located in the West Broad Street Deck, which is right next to Grace and Broad Residence Center
Dining information
We do not offer meal plans during the summer, as many VCU Dine locations are closed for the season. We encourage interns to explore the options available to them outside of VCU Dine, as the university area offers many food options on/around campus, as well as near the Grace and Broad Residence Center.
Is intern housing competitive?
We start to fill up toward late April, and we encourage reservations to be completed by mid-April. We continue to book until filled. Once we are full, we close the booking process.
What does the availability look like?
Intern housing is available from Sunday, May 17, at 4:00 pm to Saturday, August 8, at 10:00 am, with no exceptions before or after these dates and times.
When do they find out their housing assignment?
Housing assignments are still being made through the first week of May. Roommates will be emailed no less than two weeks prior to an intern's/individual's move-in date. Physical apartment and room numbers will be provided upon physical check-in.
Can interns change their housing dates?
Yes, interns can change their housing dates by contacting conferences@vcu.edu. There is a $250 change fee.
If an intern changes their housing dates, will they be refunded if they shorten their contract?
No refunds are given after payment is completed, the intern has moved in, or after the 30-day deadline for payment in full has passed. If an intern has an emergency or extenuating circumstances, please encourage them to contact conferences@vcu.edu for a review of their request.
